Section 2: Doctor of Philosophy

The program leading to the Doctor of Philosophy degree provides education for a career of creative scholarship. The degree is not conferred upon a candidate merely on condition of fulfilling a specific number of requirements. The highest scholastic degree is awarded only to students who have demonstrated the capability to produce original scholarship and who give promise of qualifying as an authority in a chosen field. Specific requirements for the degree include a program of study covering a body of coherently related fields, investigation of a research problem in the major field of study, and completion of the LGS TATTO and JPE programs.
