Fulbright Program for U.S. Students

The Fulbright Program is the largest U.S. international exchange program offering opportunities for students, scholars and professionals to undertake international graduate study, advanced research, and teaching worldwide.

  • April 2018. The online application becomes available. 
  • August 2018. Fulbright workshop 
  • August 27, 2018 by 11:30pm, a completed application should be submitted electronically. This deadline is firm - no exceptions. 
  • September 10-14, 2018: Interview Week: After the interviews, Dr. Jay Hughes will release the application back to the students for revisions.
  • September 27, 2018 by 11:30pm, applicants should submit their revised application electronically.
  • February 2019: IIE expects to inform applicants of first round results .

The application process is complicated. Follow the guidelines and instructions included in the Fulbright Informational Memo (at right).

Fulbright Workshop - 2018

The Fulbright Workshop provides an opportunity for students to get early feedback on their Fulbright proposals and personal statements. It is also a chance to discuss other particularities of Fulbright, such as the personal statement, institutional affiliation, and language evaluation.

In addition to reading the Fulbright Memo, applicants are strongly encouraged to visit the Resources page of the Grant Writing Program website (http://www.gs.emory.edu/professional-development/sharpening-skills/gwp/resources.html) and read Components of a Successful Research Proposal and The Genre of Grant Proposals.

Materials for the Fulbright Workshop are due August 6. They must be submitted in a single file, in pdf format, with the elements in the order specified below. Grant narrative and personal statement must conform to the Fulbright formatting requirements. See https://us.fulbrightonline.org/
