Applications Open for the Edward A. Bouchet Graduate Honor Society
In 2019, the Laney Graduate School became a member of the National Edward Alexander Bouchet Graduate Honor Society, which is named for the first African American doctoral recipient in the United States (Physics, Yale University, 1876), Dr. Edward Alexander Bouchet. The Society acknowledges outstanding scholarly achievement and promotes diversity and excellence in doctoral education and the professoriate. It is a network of preeminent scholars who exemplify academic and personal excellence, foster environments of support, and serve as examples of CLASS: 1) Character; 2) Leadership; 3) Advocacy for students who have been traditionally underrepresented in the academy; 4) Scholarship; and 5) Service.
