The Laney Graduate School Handbook is your guide for understanding the policies, rules, and procedures that shape your experience at LGS.
Inside, you’ll find information on degree requirements, academic progress, financial policies, the LGS conduct and honor codes, and how to navigate the grievance process. It also links to important Emory University policies that apply to graduate students.
We encourage you to read the handbook at the start of your program and revisit it whenever you have questions about requirements, policies, or procedures. If something isn’t clear, reach out to LGS Student Affairs for help.

From Idea to Award: Mastering the NSF GRFP
Winning a National Science Foundation Award (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship (GRFP) is one of the most prestigious honors for early career scholars. The award provides up to three years of independent funding to support PhD training.
This workshop series is open to graduate and undergraduate students who are planning to apply for the NSF GRFP. Eligible NSF / GRFP applicants must be in their first or second year of training. Please note students pursuing an MD/MD/PhD, MS or MPH are not eligible.
Through this series, participants will:
- Gain a clear understanding of the NSF GRFP and what it takes to submit a strong, competitive application
- Learn how to craft an outstanding personal, relevant background and future goals statement and graduate research plan statement
- Understand how fellowship applications are reviewed and evaluated
- Develop strategies for securing strong letters of recommendation

The Emory Hope Clinic is currently seeking healthy adults ages 18–45 who have never received the HPV vaccine to participate in our HPV Reduced Dose Vaccine Study.

Honor Council Graduate Assistant
The Office for Undergraduate Education seeks a graduate student assistant for the Emory College Honor Council. The Honor Council adjudicates all cases of student academic misconduct in Emory College. The graduate assistant will support the Honor Council in preparing case files, drafting summaries of cases, grading educational programs assigned as a sanction, developing content for the website and other educational materials, and preparing data for the annual report.
This role requires an understanding of confidentiality, FERPA, and data privacy. It will include additional training to ensure this competency is met.
Work schedule: 15-20 hr/wk on-site in Candler Library 107
Compensation: $18/hr
