The War on Tenure Book Launch

Join the Emory Law community on Friday, September 26, for the launch of Professor Deepa Das Acevedo’s new book, “War on Tenure.”

The book examines why job security matters for academics and why tenure is essential to the future of higher education.

This half-day event will include a discussion with the author and guest panel conversations in Hunter Atrium, Gambrell Hall.

Narrative Rules: Three Principles of Storytelling from Hollywood that are now Essential for the Successful Communication of Science and Medicine

The Georgia CTSA Research Education Program will host a talk on scientific communication facilitated by Randy Olson, PhD, of the ABT Framework. Olson will explain how the ABT can help address the three most important challenges in communication today: singularity, stakes, and audience – and will show how a century of knowledge from Hollywood storytelling now provides the key insights for successful communication.

Lunch will be provided for in-person attendees.

English Language Support Workshop - Small Talk in a US Context

Many of us feel nervous when we talk to strangers or to people we don’t know well. Yet this “small talk” is important to help us make connections and build personal and professional relationships.

This interactive workshop provides strategies to help you engage in social and professional conversations with confidence, along with practice of each strategy. Strategies covered include how to open and close a conversation; how to maintain a conversation, including turn-taking & active listening; appropriate topics and questions for various contexts; and techniques to move from “small talk” to “big talk”.

The Hatchery Innovation Consulting Fellow

The Hatchery is seeking an Innovation Consulting Fellow to support student entrepreneurs and innovators from all Emory schools.
