LGS Dean Kimberly Jacob Arriola will host an open office hour for Laney Graduate School.
This is an opportunity to connect directly with the Dean, share feedback, discuss ideas, or raise questions about the graduate school experience.
The office hour will be held in the Laney Graduate School administrative offices, located in the North Decatur Building, Suite 200.
No appointment is necessary, individual appointments will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis.

Student Union Collective Bargaining Update
Emory University and SEIU Workers United, Southern Region Local 29, held productive collective bargaining sessions on Thursday, April 3 and Thursday, April 17.
During these meetings, the Union presented amended proposals covering nondiscrimination and intellectual property. The University presented an amended proposal on intellectual property and a new proposal on force majeure. The parties also continued their discussion of the TATTO program and its relationship to teaching assistant job assignments.
During the last meeting on April 17, the University presented an amended economic package.
The next session will take place on Thursday, May 8. Updates will be provided in the Grad Report as negotiations progress.

Beyond the Professoriate will host a weeklong conference designed to help PhDs quickly learn how to build a foundation for their job search strategy.

LGS Writing Group (co-facilitated by ELSP and the Emory Writing Center)
Are you working on a writing project? Would writing for a few hours a week within a supportive community help you make progress? If so, the LGS writing group can help you get it done, 25 minutes at a time!
Join the weekly graduate student writing group for some dedicated writing time (through multiple pomodoros, i.e., focused writing intervals) as well as the chance to obtain feedback from a Writing Center tutor or an English Language Specialist, if desired.

Individual Consultations with an English Language Specialist
An English Language Specialist will help you with a specific graduate or professional writing or speaking task. We will not only provide feedback and advice related to your current work but also provide tips and resources to apply to similar work in the future. Appointments are typically 30 minutes in length.

LAST CHANCE! Fox Center Humanities Pathways Fellowship
The Pathways Fellowship is intended to provide a graduate student in the humanities or humanistic social sciences a pathway into academic careers beyond the tenure track. The selected fellow will gain a broad range of professional experience by collaborating with our staff team on program management, event design, budget management, research and assessment, and communications.
Students with a strong interest in alternative academic careers are especially encouraged to apply. The fellow will have a desk at the Fox Center and is expected to work primarily in person. Occasional evening work (1-2 times per month) is expected as part of supporting the Center’s events program. Work schedule: 20 hours/week
