New Student Information

Welcome to Emory and the Laney Graduate School!  We are pleased that you have chosen Emory and the Laney Graduate School for the next step in your education, and look forward to welcoming you to our campus in August.

Between now and then, there are a number of important issues for you to attend to.  Be sure to read this page as well as the three pages to the left.  If you have questions, it is often best to contact your program first, but if that is not possible then of course contact us directly.

Program for Scholarly Integrity: PSI 600

Friday, August 22, 2014 from 8-5 in the Tull Auditorium (School of Law). This course, required for all incoming doctoral students with the exception of incoming international doctoral students, will introduce students to the foundations of ethical reflection in which they will engage throughout the course of their graduate careers. Laney Graduate School Orientation

New students are required to attend the Laney Graduate School Orientation. Orientation will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 8:30-11:30 am in the Cox Hall Ballroom (Cox Hall, 3rd Floor). Breakfast will be served, and there will be presentations by Dean Tedesco and university offices and organizations. 

Laney Graduate School Welcome Picnic

The Welcome Picnic will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Atrium of the Math and Science Center.  All new and continuing graduate students, faculty, and staff are welcome. The picnic is a great opportunity for you to begin building relationships with other graduate students and with faculty and staff with whom you will work during your graduate studies at Emory. 

Official Transcripts

If you haven’t already done so, please make sure you submit official final transcripts to the Laney Graduate School by August 1, 2014. We must have official transcripts showing receipt of degrees and all post-secondary work before you can register in an Emory degree program. Please send your transcript directly to us at Laney Graduate School, Emory University, 209 Administration Building, Mailstop 1000-001-1AF, 201 Dowman Drive, Atlanta, GA 30322.

If you are unable to submit transcripts before registration for fall semester, you need to complete, sign and submit the LGS Request to Extend Deadline form posted at right under Transcripts.  We will contact students who need to submit this form.

If English is not your first language,

then you must participate in an English language proficiency assessment or receive an exemption from the English Language Support Program before registering for classes. More information is in on our English Language Support Program pages.
